Great Southern Sale rounds out pinhook purchases

June 23, 2018

A busy few days at the Inglis Great Southern Sale saw 8 weanlings added to the 2018/19 pinhooking team.

The eight purchases took our total team to 15 and we're wrapped what we have brought home. Detailed below is the complete list of the team that we'll be looking to sell at the upcoming yearling sales in 2019.

We'll be holding a parade of the all the horses purchased on August the 4th followed by dinner at Mitchelton Winery for the Melbourne Cup tour. Check out all the details HERE. Should be a great day and night for anyone wanting to come out and check it all out.

Video of the Great Southern weanlings purchased earlier in the week.

Written Tycoon / Rossa Mia Colt
Our first purchase was an athletic colt brought at the Inglis Sydney Easter Sale. He's a great moving colt who will be standing out come sales time in early January. He's by popular stallion Written Tycoon who stands at Woodside for $110,000 in 2018.

Hinchinbrook / Love Field Filly
Forward strong type of filly by good young Fastnet Rock stallion Hinchinbrook. She was our pick of all the fillies at the Magic Million National Sale.

Hinchinbrook / Sharp Secretary filly
With Hinchinbrook rolling out the winners this season there should be no harm done having two fillies by this sire in your Gold Coast draft. She's an athletic well balanced filly from a solid US stakes winning family and to be buying her at service fee price seems a good deal.

Sizzling / She's A Girl filly
This filly is A plus on type and really stood out at the Magic Millions National Sale. She was brought at a discount due her stallion yet to fully prove himself but we're tipping this filly will appeal to all those trainers who like buying fast looking racehorses.

Ocean Park / We Love Colt
By Cox Plate champ Ocean Park this colt was purchased very well at the New Zealand Weanling Sale. Out of a well related Pentire mare he'll be a great addition to our draft and will suit those looking for a classics horse.

Bull Point / Daguetta Colt
Could prove to be the buy of the Magic Million National Sale. By good Fastnet Rock racehorse and first season sire Bull Point, this fella is a stunna to look at. Check out Bull Point's run in the 2013 Golden Rose where he ran third behind Zoustar and Dissident. The best third I've EVER seen. This stallion could be a smoky.

All Too Hard / Shama de Oro Colt
This neat colt will sit perfectly in our Adelaide draft. By young gun sire All Too Hard who just keeps on punching out the winners. Out of a well related Sharmardal mare who's a half sister to multiple group winner Primus.

Sepoy / Vexation Colt
After a slow start to his stallion career Golden Slipper hero Sepoy has a great season with winners week in week out. He also now boasts a Group 1 winner in Alizee. This colt is as strong as an ox.

Notradamus / Trick Or Treating Colt

By first season sire Notrodamus this good sort is a grandson of world class stallion Medaglia D'oro who stands in the USA for a whooping US$250K. Notradamus was a three time Group 3 winner and is also a half brother to the very good stallion Star Witness.

Vancouver / Very Cherry colt
Vancouver first group of yearlings will be sold in 2019. He was of course a champion champion 2yo of his year, unbeaten as a 2yo year and the winner of the Golden Slipper. This colt was one of the standout colts at the Great Southern Sale and we'll be setting out sites at the Gold Coast Sale for this boy. I have no doubt the buyers will flock to the Vancouver stock.

Magnus / Footsteps Of God colt
Smart sort of colt by a proven stallion in Magnus. This fella has a family that most Western Australian's would drool over. His out of a full sister to Perth dual Group 1 champ and now sire Playing God.

Love Conquers All / Magamen Colt
By one of the most underrated stallions in Australia in Love Conquers All. This colt was one of the best colts at the Great Southern Sale. Strong and correct with a stunning colour and head, this colt has that something special about him. We're hoping he's one of the horses that everyone's talking about at the sales complex come March 2019.

Starcraft / Secret Cove Colt
Not many Starcraft yearlings get sold at auction in Australia but the one's that do normally sell well. The progeny of Starcraft have a terrific record in Asia and therefore there is reasonable demand for his yearlings. Suspect this colt has the most improvement in him from all the horses we have purchased.

Olympic Glory / Real Special Colt
The first Australian crop of Olympic Glory will turn turn 2yo in August. Olympic Glory is a son of Choisir and was a champion 2yo in Europe who trained on as an older horse. The winner of 4 Group 1 races his first crop if yearlings averaged over $180,000 at the Gold Coast last year. We'll be hoping they come out and run early! This colt is strong and athletic - in the mould of his sire.

Shooting To Win / Miss Kistler Colt

By Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting To Win we'll be hoping that Shooting To Win's first 2yo's that hit the track in the new racing season can impress. He's a good sort of a colt from a very solid black type producing family. A big athletic colt who has a flowing walk.
