Equiamico heads to Swan Hill on Friday for day one of the Swan Hill carnival. A maiden over 1200 meters looks a suitable race for the son of Equiano to continue his consistent form.
Accomplished horseman and in-form jockey, Jacob Rule, is engaged to ride. Jacob’s extensive experience at country carnivals is certainly a welcomed benefit. Equiamico has drawn barrier 5 which looks ideal to suit his racing pattern and should afford him the opportunity stalk the speed and have clear galloping room late.
With a rating of 56, Equiamico has been allotted 58.5kg. With only missing the top 5 placings on 2 occasions from 7 starts, his consistent pattern suggests that a maiden breakthrough is on the horizon.
The race is not without its challenges with the locally trained LUKEY DEE demanding respect off the back of a narrow defeat in maiden grade. Similarly, the Tony McEvoy trained first starter, SCRAP DEMON, looks to be a danger off some solid trial form. A myriad of first starters also poses some unknowns.
Trainer Pat Cannon has reported the horse to have come through his Geelong run well, and with having some solid runs under his belt this campaign, only some light maintenance work has been required to keep Equiamico well prepared for this assignment. A soft track is forecasted and provided the rain holds off, Equiamico will hopefully be afforded every opportunity to give a competitive showing.
Best of luck to all connections!
