Draft sparkles in Adelaide

March 14, 2018

What a MASSIVE week it's been in Adelaide at the Magic Millions Yearlings Sales for Princess Park.

So proud of our team that was able to achieve such amazing results at just our very first attempt at the yearling sales here in Australia.

Princess Park had 2 of the top 5 highest priced lots at the sales. We sold 100% of our horses and we were the highest average of any farm taking 5 of more yearlings to the sales at an average of $74,833.

Overall our draft of 12 horses had the second highest grossing sales behind Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud who sold 22 horses at the sales.

A highlight was Lot 56 a strapping son of STREET BOSS was knocked down to Tam Siu Keung & James Moore Racing for $150,000. After being purchased as a weanling for $38,000 last year he'll head to Hong Kong to be trained by George Moore.

But our highest priced horse was Lot 205. A stunning colt by Nicconi he was purchased for $210,000 by Yulong Investments. He was purchased as a weanling for $60,000 last year. He'll head to leading Caulfield trainer Mick Price and we look forward to watching his career as a racehorse unfold.

Other great results were Lot 300 a strong early type of a filly sold to successful young trainer Shea Eden for $90,000. A $42,000 purchase at the weanling sales she'll be set for the early Magic Millions 2yo classics.

Lot 311, a lovely well balanced filly by first season sire Shooting To Win, was purchased by astute Adelaide trainer Shane Oxlade for $100,000.

It was great to see Lot 55 going to a good home. The well bred VOBIS filly by proven stallion Reset will be trained by Brendan McCarthy at Caulfield after being sold for $55,000.

Pleasing to see Lot 165 a colt by Cox Plate champ Adelaide be sold to astute bloodstock agent John Chalmers for his Perth owners for $50,000. John was underbidder on our top lots and his support at the sales was much appreciated!

Lot 218 was snapped up by top Victorian trainer Troy Corstens for $90,000 and a very nice Olympic Glory filly (lot 75) is off to Danny Williams who is a leading trainer in Goulburn. This great walking filly was bought for $46,000 from breeders Brian and Kim Toohey.

A BIG thanks to our team!

Jenny Saunders and Fintan Butler led from the front and have been awesome in looking after the horses and preparing them for sale. The amount of compliments we received at the sales from buyers is testament to the fantastic job our team has done in preparing these yearlings for sale. They were supported by Georgie and Daniel who work tirelessly at our Nagambie farm. We also had amazing handlers at the sales. Orla Pearl and Leon Phillips are two of the very best in the business!

Sheamus Mills has been outstanding as our trusted bloodstock agent and adviser over the journey and his hard work in putting the draft together was invaluable.

Our farrier Hayden Kneebone has also done an amazing job with the horses feet and we have the best vet in the business in Dave McKellar who's advice and care for the yearlings has been superb.

We also couldn't have achieved these results if not for our loyal bunch of owners who got behind us big time and are now reaping the rewards.

And last but not least a big thank you goes to all the buyers who put up their hands at auction and bid on our horses. See you all next year!
