A very good start to the Australian thoroughbred yearling sales season with Magic Millions completing it's premier section (Book 1) of its' Gold Coast sale last night.
The Book One sale rounded out with a gross of almost $156 million – over $22.6 million higher than last year. The average soared to exactly $228,000 while the clearance rate was a record equalling 89 per cent. The sale average was up over 10% from 2017.

Of interest to the Princess Park Pinhooking Syndicate were the prices of the progeny of stallions that make up our syndicates team of horses. These yearlings are entered to be sold at the Adelaide Magic Millions Sales.
DAWN APPROACH with just two lots sold had an average of $305,000 off the back of his strong start to his stud career with a couple of very good 2yo winners before Christmas. This was off the back of service fee of $22,000.
ARTIE SCHILLER also had just 2 lots sold. He averaged $200,000 off a service fee of $22,000.
NICCONI had just 3 yearlings go through the ring for an average of $183,000. (Service Fee $11,000).
CHOISIR had just 8 yearlings sold for an average of $157,000. (Service Fee $29,700).
First season sire ADELAIDE had 3 sell for an average of $131,000. (Service Fee of $16,500)
STREET BOSS had 5 sell for $150,000 average. (Service Fee of $27,500)
Proven stallion RESET only had the one yearling in the sale and it sold for $100,000. (Service Fee $16,500)
First season stallion SHOOTING TO WIN had 22 lots sold for an average of $122,954. (Service Fee of $38,500)

DEEP FIELD was on top of the list of the leading first season sires. He had 39 yearlings sell for an average of $219,231. (Service Fee of $22,000)
OLYMPIC GLORY was another first season sire who sold well. The son of Choisir had 12 yearlings go through the ring for an average of $181,667. (Service Fee of $19,250)
UNENCUMBERED averaged $108,000 from his 3 yearlings sold. (Service Fee of $13,200)
EXCELEBRATION did not have a yearling go through the Book 1 Sale.
