He's no champion but he's our champion!

February 5, 2017

Punt Club scored his first win in town and in doing so became trainer Pat Cannon's first city winner.

An emotional Pat Cannon was full of praise for Punt Club post race stating "He may not be a champion, but he's our champion."

After drawing perfectly in barrier 2, Damien Lane sat outside the leader relaxing well throughout the race. He gave a kick off the turn and was able to hold off the fast finishing Dance With Fontein.

The win took Punt Club's earnings to $89,000 with a record of 3 wins and 6 placings from his 13 starts. He's a real tough horse who gives his all at every start and you'd love to have a stable full of horses like Punt Club.

A big congratulations goes out to all the owners and to our staff at both Ballarat and Nagambie who have all had a part to play in Punt Club's success.

Punt Club has pulled up well and will be set for a race over 1000 metres at The Valley in two weeks time.
