The Flying Doormat salutes at Seymour

October 19, 2015

The Flying Doormat chalked up his first race victory yesterday on Seymour Cup Day!

It was a very exciting day, especially as so many of our owners were on track enjoying the sunshine in the Princess Park marquee.

Doormat started the race off well, settling midfield. Breathes were held just before the turn when he appeared to get a bit too close to the heels of the horses in front, but veteran jockey Steven King took hold, found clear passage on the outside and he really wound up well to win by a length.

A huge congratulations and thank you to all our owners, jockey Steven King, and of course our stable staff, track riders and trainer Pat Cannon.

We also had The Nickster have her second race stat in the 3yo maiden plate.  She is still learning, but we were very happy with her efforts and she'll only continue to improve off that run.
